How to: Clean Makeup Brushes

So today's post I have seen over a dozen times on other peoples blogs but I just thought why not do one for my own blog.

Cleaning my makeup brushes is something I cannot stand. It always takes so much time even though my brush collection is so small. Am I the only person that feels that way?

Anyway to clean my brushes I start off with a bowl of water, some baby shampoo, a rubber glove and a towel. You don't have to use a rubber glove, I just don't like cleaning them without one. I dip my brush into the water, add a small amount of baby shampoo to the brush and rub with my fingers. I do this until it seems clean, dip it into the water again and ta-da a clean brush. Repeat this with all the brushes and let them dry on a towel.

The reason I use baby shampoo is because I think it cleans the brushes better than just water and in my opinion it's softer on the bristles of the brush.
So that's pretty much all it takes to cleaning my brushes.

Let me know in the comments if you do anything differently when cleaning your makeup brushes.

30 Day Snap

Hi everyone,

So Louise (SprinkleofGlitter) put up a post a little while ago about a 30 day snap challenge and since I have been thinking about doing it. I know I'm not in anyway a good photographer but I just thought why not get involved for fun?

This challenge is for everyone and for the month of June you upload one photo everyday for 30 days.
I'm excited to get involved in this and I will be posting my normal posts as well as my pictures for this challenge .

The challenge starts on Saturday and I just hope I can keep up with and you all enjoy the pictures.

My Favourite Celeb Styles

Hey everyone,
Over the last few days blogging has sort of gotten away from me. Between being busy and just having a bit of a 'blogging block'. Not worry though, I'm back and going to share which Celebrity styles I am absolutely loving at the minute.

1. Vanessa Hudgens

Other than her role in high school musical, if there is one thing this girl is known for it's her festival style. Whatever the festival she never fails to get it wrong. She has gone from looking sweet and innocent to rocking the 'boohoo' trend and she most definitely is a girls go to for festival looks.

2. AnnaSophia Robb

AnnaSophia Robb has been in her fair share of movies but her big break came when she was placed as the young Carrie in 'The Carrie Diaries' which if you haven't seen you need too! Her style is always so simple which I love, but no matter how simple she manages to make it look super stylish. If you ask me she is definitely one to keep an eye on in the fashion world.

3. Lily Collins

I was first introduced to this lady when watching 'The Blind Side' and ever since she has popped up in most magazines that I read. The thing that makes me love her style is that she can dress casual one minute and the next she is ready for the red carpet! She can make the most casual outfit look amazing and this is something that really attracts me to her style.

4. Taylor Swift

There is only one word I can think of to describe Taylor's look and that is simply girly. In most of the pictures I see of Taylor she is usually out showing her legs. The reason I like her style is because no matter what she wears she makes it look perfect for any girl and she doesn't even need to add accessories!

5. Elizabeth Olsen

If your sisters are the Olsen twins you are bound to be blessed with good style and Elizabeth Olsen has been. This girl could wear a bin bag and somehow manage to make it look good and that's what I love. You are never going to see her in the same thing twice and she is always doing something different so basically whats not to love?

Is there any Celebrity styles you have been loving at the moment?

Positive Post #2

Why hello there,

During the weekend I wasn't in the best of moods and everything seemed to pile on top of me at the time. At the minute I'm over it and am feeling rather cheerful, so it seems like the perfect time to do another positive post.

This little 'lift me up' post is for anyone who is as you'd 'stuck in a rut' and has no idea what they want to do with their lives.

I am a big believer in 'whats for you won't pass you by' but at the same time it's understandable that you have to work for it. Your not going to find it sitting with your bum plonked on the couch! Not going to lie, sometimes I need a little reminding of this.

If you try something and you realise it isn't for you, that's ok. Some people make such a big deal out of stuff like this but at least you can say you tried it and it wasn't what you expected. You then try to figure out what it is you want and go for that. Don't listen to what others say about your choices. In the end it's up to you what you want to do, nobody else.

We're all young and have our whole lives ahead of us so don't worry if you have no clue what your future holds. Something will pop up and you'll be so glad you didn't rush into anything when it does come along.

All you have to do is sit down, have a good think about what it is you want and go for it. It may not be easy but once you get it all the hard work will pay off. So if you have a dream go for it and don't let anyone stop you.

If anybody is feeling like they have no clue what they want to do with their lives I hope this post helped.

The Liebster Award Nomination

A few days ago I got a lovely tweet from Lauren Emma nominating me for little blog award called 'The Liebster Blog Award'

Now I'm not going to sit here and say I knew exactly what this award was because to be quiet honest I hadn't a clue!

After doing a bit a research I found out it's an award for blogs with under 200 followers and they are nominated through other blogs. I think this is such a lovely idea as it's a good way to find new blogs and shows others are interested in yours.

The rules of this is that you give 11 random facts about yourself, answer 11 questions that have been set for you and nominate 11 other bloggers.
So lets begin!

11 random facts about me:

1. My room has to be completely dark when I'm going to sleep.
2. I could sit for hours watching vlogs on youtube.
3. I am seriously obsessed with Caroline Flacks fashion sense.
4. I am no longer in college and hope to do a short make up course during the summer.
5. I absolutely hate feet. They are the ugliest things ever.
6. When it comes to wearing eyeshadow I only use neutral shades.
7. One day I hope to live in London.
8. I am a total hair-dye addict and have had my hair so many different colours.
9. When I get addicted to a programme I get way to involved in it!
10. I am way to addicted to the internet.
11. I'm always changing my mind on what I want to do with my life so lord only knows where I'll end up!

11 questions asked by Lauren Emma:

1. What is your must have beauty product?
I always have to use mascara. Even on no make up days just putting a bit of mascara on makes me feel
    that little bit better.

2. Why did you get into blogging?
I have been reading blogs for awhile now so one day I just thought I'd try it and ever since I have loved
    doing it.

3. How would you describe your own style in 3 words?
This is really hard for me because to be honest I don't think I have that much style but since I have to
answer I'd probably say girly, comfortable and summery? (There probably don't even sound like me...)

4. What is the best book you have read recently?
The best book I have read is most definitely 'The fault in our stars' by John Green. I got way to into this
book and fell so in love with the characters. If you haven't read this you seriously need to pick up a copy!

5. Sweet or Savoury?
Definitely a sweet person. Can't seem to get rid of my sweet tooth!

6. What is your biggest pet peeve?
People who chew their food really loud. I find that noise so horrible and makes me feel slightly sick.

7. What beauty product would you recommend to people?
Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Moisturiser. The smell alone is enough to make me buy it again and again.

8. Favourite item of clothing?
At the minute it's a baseball t-shirt I bought from topshop which I have been wanting for awhile. It's just so
    comfy!

9. Do you collect anything?
Not that I can think of. I used to keep all my magazines but they just made my room look messy so I got
   rid of them.

10. Who inspires you?
As cheesy as it is, my mam. She is the strongest person I know and if I end up like her I just couldn't
      complain!

11. If you could change one thing about your life what would it be?
I'd change the fact that I don't have a job. Seriously need some money in my poor bank account!

Bloggers I nominate:
Jessica from PeachyNotes
Roxy from RoxysBoxofTricks
Annie from Appletoothpaste
Amy from AllAboutAlt
Estelle from LetMeGoxo
Chrissy from ChrissyLilly
Cara from TinyPollyPocket
Samya from SamyaSays
Kirsty from Taupe&Pearl
Rachel from ThePowderRoom

My 11 questions:
1. What beauty product could you not live without?
2. What's your favourite thing about blogging?
3. Is there anywhere in the world you want to visit?
4. How do you come up with your blog post ideas?
4. Is there any beauty product you tried and hated?
5. How did you come up with your blog name?
6. Which celebrity do you look up to and why?
7. What is your favourite type of post to read on other peoples blog?
8. What's your favourite feature about yourself?
9. Is there any advice you'd give to your younger self?
10. What make up brand do you use the most?
11. If you were to start blogging again for the first time, is there anything you would do differently?

This is definitely the longest post I have done but I did enjoy doing it.
Thanks for reading.

John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner

Hi everyone,

I am one of those people that is constantly changing the colour of my hair. In the end it's left feeling way to dry. I was never one for bleaching my hair but lately went for blonde (which really wasn't my colour!)  to brown to ombré to getting highlights. Probably not my best move in the hair world. So after all this my hair was very damaged. I was searching for something cheap and something I knew would do the job. Then I came across John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner.

The Packaging:

(Excuse the chipped nails)

How it looks:

The first thing I noticed about this product was the smell. It is so fresh when applying to your hair. As soon as I put on I knew this would be something that worked. It's thinner than a normal conditioner and can also be runny but this is something I was to worried about.

After using it my hair instantly felt softer and healthier. I left this on my hair for two hours just to make sure it really worked and it was a success. If you are like me and are a crazy hair-dye addict who needs something to help dry hair I couldn't recommend this enough.

The conditioner itself costs a little over €7 for 150ml in superdrug. In my eyes it's great value as it does exactly what its supposed to do. You couldn't ask for anything better!

Is there any hair masks or deep conditioners you are using that you would recommend?
Let me know in the comments if so.

What's In My Makeup Bag?

Hi everyone,
Today I'm not exactly feeling the best (boohoo) so I thought I'd just do a small post about whats in my makeup bag. Also yesterday I was lucky enough to be able to buy my new camera, which I got way to excited about I might add, so pictures are much clearer!

My make up bag:

I go through phases with makeup bags and always end up buying new ones when I don't need them and just end up with way to many, but recently my sister went to South Africa (lucky thing!) and brought back this one! I think it's so cute and such a good size for my handbag. Well done Sara, good choice!

Inside the bag:

Since this is only for when I leave the house I only put the basic things in it.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation - I'm always changing my foundation because I'm never fully satisfied with most of the ones I buy but so far this is my all time favourite and I have already repurchased it. It makes skin look so fresh and awake and smells devine!

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer - When using concealers I try to pick liquid ones instead of sticks because I'm not a fan of dragging it across my eye. I'm pretty pleased with this concealer and it covers dark circles and spots and matches in with my foundation perfectly.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Mascara - I actually got this free because I spent over a certain amount on rimmel products and I'm pretty glad I did. It doesn't clump and spreads eyelashes out making them look so much fuller.

Rimmel London Match Perfection loose Powder (no link available) - I'm not going to say much about this because I've only got it but so far so good and no complaints.

Benefit Dandelion Blusher - This is one of my favourite blushers and I've had it for so long and barely made a dent. My favourite thing about it is it's not that bright so if you only like a light colour on your cheeks this is the blusher for you!

Essence Kajal Eye Pencil - I only use this on my bottom lash line as I prefer liquid liner but the colour works and it's super cheap too!

Vaseline Cocoa Butter - At the minute I'm using this lip product as my other one ran out but the smell of this is just so nice and leaves my lips super soft!

So that's all the basics in my makeup bag and until I did this post I didn't realise how much Rimmel products I use!

I hope you enjoyed seeing what was in my makeup and let me know whats in yours.

OOTD - Zoe's Confirmation

It's been a rather busy week in the Rochford household, first a graduation then a confirmation. Busy, busy, busy!

(excuse the terrible lighting in the last picture, I was being rushed out the door when these were taken.)

Dress: I bought my dress in a small little shop in town called ViVi but sadly the shop is no longer there. It was €30. As soon as I tried it on I knew I had to have it!

Shoes: My shoes were bought in Pennys (Primark to most) and were €18. These were the comfiest shoes as they were a wedge and I felt they gave the dress a summery look.

Bag: I've had this bag for awhile and I didn't want to go buy a new one so this little one was handy. I bought it in Pennys and was €9.

The day was absolutely brilliant and I'm sure my sister couldn't have asked for a better day!

My cousin has taken some pictures and when I get hold of some I'll add them to this post.

OOTD - Sara's Graduation

Yesterday my Twin sister graduated from a childcare course she has being doing all year so me and my family went up to see her. We were all so proud. (Go twin!)

I didn't really know how fancy/casual it was going to be as it was only small so I decided to go for a mint and cream striped dress.

The dress and bag are both from Primark. The bag was €13 and I can't really remember the price of the dress but I think it was around €17. I decided I would keep my make up rather subtle and just did a brown smokey eye. Nothing to hectic. Then I just painted my nails a mint colour using a brand called W7. I'm not sure where you can get this brand as they sold it in a shop that's no longer open in my town.

We had such a lovely day and went for dinner in a restaurant called Luigi Malones in Tembar, Dublin. The food was so nice and the staff were so friendly. I would highly recommend this place! After this, we headed to the college Sara was in and watched her graduate.

It was such a lovely day and hope to have another one like it soon.

How I've been spending my day #1

Is anyone else in complete shock that it's May already or is that just me? It feels like 2013 has just started but instead were halfway through the year already. Anyway summer has finally arrived and thankfully we can ditch our winter rags and whip out our summer wardrobes.

So today I had no idea what was going to happen. Me and my friends had planned to go a forest where we live as it's so nice when the sun is out. Those plans didn't exactly work out so instead I spent the day with my family. My sisters confirmation is coming up and the dress I ordered didn't live up to expectations so there was a hunt for a new one in store.

Since the sun was shining there was only one thing to do, soak it in sitting outside the pub! (Typical Irish.) After this a Chinese was in order and it was a perfect way to end the day.

Did anyone do anything interesting with there day?

Benefit Wishlist #1

One of my favourite things to do is go online and browse through endless amounts of make-up. What would make it even better is if I could afford most of it. I decided to do a small wishlist of my favourite items so far.

When doing this post I realised most of the things I wanted were for the eyes. Concentrating on the eyes is always my favourite thing to do as I feel it makes whatever look you are trying to do. Bright eyes are a look I always try to create when I go out, so this is why I choose this look.

Is there any benefits products that you are loving at the moment? If so let me know.
Also don't forget GFC won't be around for much longer so make sure your following me on bloglovin with the link below.
