New Years Resolutions

'New Year, New You.' This is a saying that goes around almost constantly this time of year. People thinking of things they are going to do to better themselves and things to work towards.

I usually say I'm going to do something but almost forget about it by January 2nd and never think of it again. This year I am picking things that I want to stick to and hopefully will. I'm going to share with you the things I will be working on. I can also look back at this post in the future to see how they are going!

  • Take more pictures: Pictures are one of the best ways to look back at memories and remember the times you wanted to capture. 2013 wasn't my best year for taking pictures but this year I plan on taking a lot more to look back on and remember my year.

  • Drink more water: I am terrible at drinking water. I rarely feel thirsty and because of this I never go for water. I usually take the unhealthy fizzy drink route. This year I plan on making a change and drink a lot more than I do now.

  • Be in the moment: Ok so this may sound very 'tumblr' but it was the best way to put it. When I'm with friends or family I tend to whip out my phone to check what's happening online and why? I have no idea, just a force of habit. I plan on stopping this in the new year and actually be with my friends. There is plenty of time for checking social network sites when your not busy spending time with people.

So those are some of the things I plan on doing this new year and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Have you thought about any resolutions you are going to try and keep?
 Till next time.

The Christmas Tag

Hey Guys,

Estelle from letmegoxo tagged me to do The Christmas Tag and since there is just less than a week till Christmas there couldn't be a better time to do it.

What are you up to Christmas Eve?
Well this year I'm working on Christmas eve but after I'll probably get something to eat with my family, head to Christmas mass then come home and watch The Polar express. We also open one small present that evening just to get into the festive spirit.
Who do you spend Christmas day with?
Usually in the morning we see some of my aunts and uncles from my dads side then come home and eat the greatest meal ever with mam, dad and my sisters. We chill out for rest of the evening then later go and spend time with my mams side of the family.
Do you enjoy giving or receiving gifts?
I love giving gifts. I think it's so nice to see someone else be happy with what you picked out for them. Receiving gifts isn't all that bad either though. Who doesn't like getting presents?

What does your outfit consist of on Christmas Day?
For christmas I think it's really nice to dress up. Not all out fancy but something nice. I usually go for a dress or skirt and a nice pair of shoes. This year I ordered a monochrome split sleeve dress from Boohoo.com which I am so excited to get. I'll probably match it with a pair of black wedges as well.
(The dress I ordered)

Do you enjoy shopping for your loved one's gift?
Now to be honest I do and I don't. I like going down when I have ideas of what I'm going to get people but sometimes I have no clue what to get and then I get frustrated. This year was actually a lot easier and I have all my shopping done. Hopefully everyone likes their gifts.

Have you ever received a gift you disliked and pretended you liked?
I don't think there is anything I have gotten that I really didn't like. One thing I get a lot are the little gift sets with different shower gels and body butters which are always usually left in the box. Oops.

What would your ideal Christmas be?
One Christmas I would love to visit New York. There is something so nice about New York at Christmas and I love to go and see it for myself.

What's your least favourite thing about Christmas?
Coming closer to the actually day when your in town is kind of annoying just because people are crazy and rushing around trying to finish their shopping. Don't get me wrong sometimes it can bring great Christmas spirit but some people can be rude running around thinking they are the only people looking for present.

What is the best gift you have ever received?
Oh goodness, this is actually a really hard one because I always get such nice presents! Although a few years ago I got tickets to Westlife's last concert and considering I have loved them since I was about 5 years old it was pretty exciting.
If you could choose one person to spend Christmas day with who would it be or why?
I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a celebrity or something but I'm just going to give the most obvious answer and say my family. I love spending it with my family because everyone is always in high spirits and it's just one of the best days.
It was really fun to do this tag as it really puts you in a festive mood.

I tag:

and anyone else who reads this and wants to take part.
Till next time.

BBloggers Secret Santa

 Hey Guys,

So last week a package arrived for me and I was so excited when I realised it was my Secret Santa present. My presents came from the lovely Katie from SpotsandStripes  and from the second I opened it I could tell she put so much thought and effort into it.

The first thing I saw was the Cath Kidson makeup bag. It has such a cute floral design which I love and can tell I will be getting a lot of use out of. Inside the bag were the rest of the present and I saw a little hand mirror which matched the makeup bag perfectly.

The next thing I saw were the Barry M Nail Polish and the collections eye pencil. The nail varnish is perfect for this time of year with the party season about. Glitter and sequins is a perfect piece to add to your wardrobe. The eye pencil is also great as it's such a nice neutral colour so it can go with anything.

When I saw the babylips in the bag I got so excited as I have the blue one and am loving it so recieving another one was fab! The Nivea lip butter is also a new favourite and smells absolutely amazing.

These were such lovely presents to get so thank you Katie for putting so much effort in.

Hey Guys,

So Christmas is on the way and I am so very excited. It's one of my favourite times! Since it's getting close Christmas fashion is popping up everywhere. This year there seems to be a lot of sequins/flashy items around which I think is great because it's that bit different.

I went onto two of my favourite/affordable online shops, Boohoo.com and Misguided and picked out some of my favourite sequin bits to share with you all. I love all of these pieces as they aren't extremely out there but still let you dress to impress this winter season.

What do you guys think of the sequin trends? Love it or hate it?

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Hey Guys,

Awhile ago when searching for a new foundation, even though I had a great love for Revlon Colour Stay, I came across Rimmel's Match Perfection. I thought I would give it a go even though no foundation really perfectly matches my skin. The reason I chose to go with another foundation is because Revlon's colour stay doesn't do my colour so I have mix two of them and since they are rather pricey I thought it was best to try find another.

I went with rimmel as I really trust their foundations since using their 'Wake Me Up' one. So seeing this as less than €10 I just had to try it. Now just like Wake me up it does give the face a bit of a glow. It is also very light weight so if you don't like a heavy foundation you should try this.

I'm not going to say this foundation matched my skin perfectly because well, it didn't. Now don't get me wrong it's not extremely obvious so with a bit of blending it looks fine.

I think I will repurchase this again because I really liked how it made my skin looks and doesn't feel horribly heavy on my skin.

Have you tried this foundation? Let me know in the comments.

The Tartan Dress

 Dress - Primark
Boots - New Look
Clutch - Primark

 Hey Guys,

The moment I saw this dress I knew it had to be mine! It really reminds of the uniform's they use in Home and Away which me and my sister used to want for ours! So now even though I'm not in school anymore and tartan is so very in, why not indulge in the fact that this dress really works?

Collars are something I love so it adds to the fact that this dress may simply become one of my favourites. The little bow added in makes the outfit look so complete without needing to add any extra jewellery.

The boots I chose are simply so the don't take away from the dress itself but the little straps don't make them look extremely boring.

Top 5: Mascaras

Hey Guys,

Mascara's are literally my best friend. I have so many and yet I always tend to buy more to try out. I just can't help myself. Even though I have plenty and still buy more I do have my favourites. On days when I don't feel like wearing any makeup I do tend to pop a bit of mascara on just because it makes my eyes look that bit brighter meaning I look more awake and less like a walking zombie. So here are a list of my top five:

This is 100% my all time favourite mascara. The way it make's lashes look is perfect. The curved brush and even spaced bristles make the application so easy and with zero clumps. The thing I love is that this is only a drugstore brand mascara and it possibly one of the best I have used. For just a price of €9.99 how could you not want to try it?

This mascara is great for making lashes pop. It makes them so much thicker and longer. For me this mascara is great for making dramatic eye looks complete as lashes always make a look so much better. The brush for this mascara is actually thicker than a lot of brushes but for me this just adds to the effect. Available from all drugstores at €8.99

I am a huge Soap and Glory fan. Every single one of their products is fantastic and does everything it's supposed too. Not something you find with many products. This mascara is no different. It has your standard wand with bristles separated evenly for that perfect application. The formula makes lashes stay curved all day without any worry. It is available at bigger boots stores and online for around €12

This is one of my pricier Mascara's coming it at €15. This is probably one of benefit's most known mascaras. I first recieved this as a gift one Christmas and have loved it since, repurchasing it once or twice after that.  Just like Soap and Glory's thick and fast it has a standard mascara wand which makes lashes look more defined. If you are a benefit fan then I'm sure you have already tried and loved this.

This is another one of my ultimate favourites. (Obviously because it's in my top five!) I never really liked the look my normal mascara's gave to my bottom lashes so when I heard about this I just had to get my hands on it. The little brush makes it so easy to apply to the small lashes and leaves no clumps or mess. Even though it's slightly pricey at €16 I feel it is completely worth every penny as it makes bottom lashes look sleek and perfected!

Have you used any of the above Mascaras? Are any of them your favourites?

Everyday Work Makeup

Hey Guys,

Getting up early and trying to look presentable for work is one of the toughest things. The effort is just to much, but it's either that or scare half the customers away. My attempt is literally keep everything to a minimum.

Throw on a bit of foundation. I use Revlon's Colourstay as it gives great coverages and stays on all day so there is no need to worry about it coming off, then Rimmel's hide the blemish concealer to hide those oh so obvious dark circles. To make sure it holds I use Rimmel's stay matte powder. Ta-da face done!

Eyes are literally the quickest job. They don't even take me five minutes. Some eyeliner, (Collections extreme liner) Mascara, (Fearne Cottons Midnight Lashes) and brows, ( Benefits big beautiful eyes darkest shade) with clear mascara so there are no fly away hairs.

For work I don't think there is a need for a heap of makeup unless you work somewhere where it is essential, or unless you prefer too. If my morning wasn't so rushed and I didn't prefer those extra minutes in bed, my makeup would probably look that little bit nicer but for now it's just a simple dust of items onto the face.

(P.s. I promise I'm going to get back on track with blogging. With work and having blogging block I just haven't wanted to sit down and write.)

Things I'm Currently Happy About

  1. I got a job: Yes that's right, I have finally bagged myself a job. This means no more lying around the house bored out of my brain. I could not be happier. It means I can save for my makeup course and I don't have to depend on anyone else for money. It seriously makes me so happy to be out of the house and earning my own money. So happy you wouldn't believe!

 2. Wexford Opera Festival: Ok I may not be a big opera fan or anything but the opening of the festival is always the greatest! Wexford holds a firework display along the quay and over the last year or two have added a 'spegialtent.' This is where they get loads of different acts such as Jason Byrne, Alabama 3 Bell X1 and so on. They also have plenty of amusments like a ferris wheel and carousels while also opening loads of pop up art galleries during the two weeks.  I think the reason I love it is because there is always such a buzz around the town and it puts people in such good moods.

3. Pretty Little Liars Halloween Episode: I cannot even contain my excitement for this. After 8 long weeks of last seeing Ezra walk into A's lair it is going to be great to see what the writers have come up with. Will A finally be revealed? Only time will tell.

4. Eating Healthy: This is something I'm doing for myself just because I just feel 'blueggh.' (Sorry it's the best word I could use to describe it!) Sitting around the house all the time hasn't exactly been the best for my eating habits simply because of boredom. Eating because there isn't anything else to do is something everyone is aware of! This seems like such a good idea now but give it a few days and I'll be bored of it! (I'll try my hardest not to give up!)

Catrice Quick Dry and High Shine Top Coat

 Hey Guys,

Let me start this post by saying sorry for not blogging much last week. I wasn't feeling great and at the time blogging seemed like so much effort, but now everything is starting to get better and I even bagged myself a christmas job. ( Whoop Whoop) Now to the main part of this blog. Catrice's Quick Dry and High Shine Top Coat nail polish.

I am one of those people who isn't very good at waiting for their nails to dry. I wait for a bit, think there dry then hit them off something and realise they weren't really dry. (Don't lie we have all been there!)

This stuff is so handy if waiting around isn't your thing or you're just in a really big rush. Swipe a bit over your nails, wait about 30 seconds and Ta-Da, all ready to go. After hearing so much about the wonders of seche vite and not being able to find it anywhere and being to lazy to order it online I was delighted when I found this handy number in my house. My sister had actually bought it and I kinf of stole it. (Sorry Sara!)

So if you are looking for something to help with drying nails or just looking for a cheaper version of Seche Vite you need to get yourself to a Catrice stand immediately. I actually can't tell you the price of this handy little thing but it's no more than €5 which to me is such  great bargain!

Have you tried this top coat?

Deep Autumn Lips

Hey Guys,

If you know me I am never one for wearing dark lip colours or even lipstick at all. When heading for a night out I'll pop on a light colour but that's about it. Since the Autumn season has come upon us I have been loving the statement lip. Red isn't a colour that suits me so I tried to find colours with a more plummy tone to it. This is where Rimmels Lasting Finish by Kate in 107 comes in.

This is perfect colour if you don't want something that is extremely red or leaning on the purple side. This works perfect when doing something light with the eye and going for more of a dramatic lip. For someone who doesn't wear lipstick all to often it's weird coming out of that comfort zone but it's a good way of trying new things that you could end up loving.

To make the colour stand out more I used Rimmels Exaggerate lip liner in the colour '064 Obsession.' Liner makes all the difference when using lipsticks as it makes the lips look fuller and completes the look by making it neater.

Have you tried Rimmels 107? What do you think?

OOTD - Red Floral Pinafore

 Pinafore - Primark

Hey Guys,

On Thursday I headed up to Dublin to see some of my friends and head out with them. I hadn't seen all of them together in quiet awhile so I was more than excited. The night out was great fun. I always find whenever you go out somewhere other than your home town it's always great.

The day after I wanted something comfortable to wear and this dress is one of the comfiest I own. The minute I saw this dress in Primark I fell in love. The was just something about it that caught my eye. The fabric is so soft and it so easy to match with a simple white t-shirt and converse. Perfect day outfit.

OOTD - Denim Days

(Closer Look)
Shirt - Primark
Skirt - B2
Necklace - H&M

Hey Guys,

It's been one of those weeks that nothing much has happened so I just thought I would blog about what I was wearing today. I had already planned another outfit post for Friday but two outfit posts never hurt anyone.

The minute I saw this denim blouse I immediately fell in love. There was just something about it I instantly loved. When I bought it I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to match it with but knew if I raided my wardrobe I would find something. Going the boring route I was going to match it with just black legging then I spotted this skirt and thought hey lets mix it up a bit. I also matched it up with my white converse which can't be seen in the photos.

After wearing this shirt I can already tell I am going to be living in it. It's so comfortable and you can throw it on with anything and be ready to start your day. Perfect!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Hey Guys,

Beauty Blenders/Sponges seem to be really popular these days. Nearly all beauty gurus rave about them. I had always wanted to try one but personally, €20 seemed a bit excessive for a sponge. Then I heard Real Techniques were bringing out one of their own. Let me tell you, I was way to excited when I heard this and popped into my local Boot's to grab one as soon as I could.

This sponge says it will make your base flawless and give HD results. For me, it's pretty obvious if a brush/sponge works when applying makeup. I mean the truth is literally in front of you. It either gives a nice finish or it doesn't. Simple as. Let me tell you the complexion sponge does work. As you can see from the pictures it has a few different parts. A flat surface, a pointed end and rounded edges. I apply my foundation using the flat surface, blend in concelar using the pointed end and make sure my whole base is perfect using the rounded edge,

I'm not going to say it makes my face super flawless but it blends well and spreads the product easily. As it's a sponge it does soak up a small bit of product but it's a sponge and that's what they do, right? Even though it soaks up a small amount, it's not enough to make you care that much. Real Techniques made a great new product to add to their line and for only €5.90 it's easy to see why it works just as well as any other beauty blender.

If you want to know more about this product and how it works this video has all the answers.

Have you tried Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge?

September Favourites

Hey Guys,

I've never really done a monthly favourites post before just simply because I never seem to go through that many products, but this month I picked up a few new pieces that I have been loving.

Revlon Colourstay Foundation - Coming into the colder months I prefer my foundation to have a bit more coverage as my face tends to get a but red from the cold. Usually for foundations I tend to use either Rimmel or Maybelline but I heard a lot about Revlon's colourstay and thought I'd give it a go. This is perfect if you want your foundation to stay put all day. I've worn this for a day on the town to a night out with friends and was so surprised at how well it lasted. It is a bit on the pricey side at €17.80 in boots but only €15.50 in superdrug but is worth every penny.

Real Techniques Stippling Brush - For my birthday I was extremely happy to get a few different Real Techniques brushes. For applying foundation I used to just use a flat brush but now I could never go back to one. Using just a small amount of foundation this brush can spread it so evenly over the face and give such a flawless look. I couldn't have asked for a better gift!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - At first I couldn't understand what the big hype about this was. I mean it's just a powder right? Well yes obviously it's just a powder but it gets rid of any unwanted shine on the face and for my skin type it doesn't make foundation look 'cakey'. This one is in the shade translucent so it doesn't bring any extra unwanted colour to the face.

Bourjois Liner Pinceau Liquid Eyeliner - So I did a review on this last week which you can read here so there isn't exactly that much to say. This makes such a precise line and makes it so easy to make any sort of flick. I really couldn't recommend it enough.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara - I'm pretty sure I have said this in another post but I am a huge mascara junkie. Not even joking, I have at least 10 more mascaras in my room. This certain on makes my eyes look so much more awake and lashes lengthen a great amount. For me it doesn't beat Maybelline Falsies but it is a close second.

CK One Shock - So after my birthday I thought I would treat myself to a new perfume and since this one was on sale I just couldn't resist. It has such a lovely smell and I've used it pretty much everyday!

So that's this months favourites, if you are using any of these let me know in the comments below.

Bourjois Liner Pinceau Liquid Eyeliner

]

Hey Guys,

So awhile ago I had run out of eyeliner and needed to find a suitable liquid one as I'm not the biggest fan of gel liners. (I'm sorry, don't hate me) After searching through every brand I eventually came across Bourjois Liner Pinceau. I have only one word to describe this liner and it is amazing!

The best thing about it is the size of the brush. As you can see from the picture above it's ever so thin meaning you can make the liner as thin or thick as you like it. It is also great for adding the flick. I can't lie and say I'm the best at adding a flick to my liner because I'm not but this eyeliner has made the whole process so much easier. It is so easy to guide and perfect for building up the amount you want on your eye.

The last picture is an example of how the liner came out when I used it one day.
If you are on the hunt for a new liquid eyeliner and are unsure of which one to get, this is a serious must. I haven't been let down yet and will hopefully repurchase it when the time comes.
